Staff Motion Designer, Coinbase
JUNE 2022
Accepted an offer to join the Design Systems team. Had my offer rescinded three days before start date.
Senior Motion Designer & Motion Lead, Google
2013 – 2022
Realized there were roles out there that would allow me to focus solely on motion, and quickly learned how much more a motion designer does behind the scenes. Focused on highly-embedded feature and pattern development while supporting greater vision efforts for leadership and stakeholders across various products including Maps, Search, Duo, Meet, Dialer, Messages, and more. Bolstered motion efficacy through extensive outreach, education, evangelism, and support with cross-functional partners while managing and mentoring a small team of motion designers.
Intermediate Designer, Fantasy
2012 – 2013
Began to internalize my love for making things move, becoming Fi's first unofficial Motion Designer—mainly as a byproduct of growing tired of using Photoshop Layer Comps and blurs to denote intended interactions to developers and clients. Began creating detailed, annotated motion studies (similar to what Loom affords today) in hopes to better communicate interactions to our outsourced development shops, and eventually grew the role to animating full-fledged case studies, promotional reels, and delightful moments in our projects.
Interactive Designer, Struck
2009 – 2012
Cut my teeth in the Agency World, handling all sorts of tasks ranging from interactive design, Flash animation, motion graphics for prominent froyo brands, video editing, sound design, 3D—you name it. I learned a lot of things over those first four-ish years, but perhaps the most valuable morsel being that it didn't feel like work when I got to make things move.
Freelancer, acleveralias.com
2009 – PRESENT
Helping friends with various projects over the years, ranging from case study videos, Lottie animations, foundational UX wireframes, and more.
Rochester Institute of Technology – BFA New Media Design & Imaging
2005 – 2009
